Adam Grey The Young Wizard (2)

     At first he was reluctant to follow the stranger...but his curiosity got the best of him, so he followed the old man through the market and the village to a cottage at the other end of the village. It is small but neat and tidy front lawn with well trimmed grasses, there is also a small stoned well beside the cottage. Adam love what he saw.
     They went inside and the old man introduced himself to Adam, "My name is Wilbert Connor, would you care to have a cup of tea and some bread?" Adam was hungry and still confused, he could never say no to that offer... "Yes please sir, and thank you very much. By the way, my name is Adam Grey, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir". Adam shook his hand and took the cup of the given to him and ate the whole loaf of bread with butter without saying another word. The old man just smile, glad, knowing that he just fed a hungry soul.
     After the bread are nicely settled in his stomach and the tea cup refilled, Adam asked the old man known as Mr. Connor, "What were you going to show me, Mr.Connor?". The old man stand up from his sitting and went to an old wooden chest at the far wall of the small kitchen area. He took out a key from his shirt pocket and unlocked the brass lock on the chest, open it and retrieved a scroll. He closed the chest and walk back to Adam at the kitchen table. 
     "Son, you are the chosen one, a reborn Warlock of Orion, the protector of this land." Adam's mouth fell open in shock, he just don't know how to react. Adam begin by saying, "Sir, you have to be joking, I can't even do a simple magic trick let alone being a warlock..a wizard... and to protect this land? I am constantly  being bullied during my high school days... how am I supposed to protect this whole town?"
     Without a word the old man unrolled the scroll and open it on the table for Adam to see. Adam was further shocked to see what's written in that scroll. His logical mind just cannot accept the things that has happened and now he is further confused.
